1. Information We Collect

We collect the following categories of information when you use SnapSell:

Information you provide directly:

  • Name and email address
  • Phone number
  • Shipping and billing address
  • Photos of items (uploaded by sellers for listings)
  • Payment information — collected and tokenized via Stripe; SnapSell does not store raw card numbers or bank account details
  • Government-issued ID and KYC (Know Your Customer) documents submitted for seller identity verification
  • Listing content, descriptions, and communications with buyers or sellers

Information collected automatically:

  • Device type, operating system, and browser
  • IP address and approximate location
  • Browsing behavior on the platform (pages visited, clicks, search queries)
  • Transaction history and activity logs

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Operate and provide the SnapSell marketplace and listing features
  • Process payments, hold escrow funds, and disburse sale proceeds
  • Arrange and track shipping of sold items
  • Respond to buyer and seller inquiries and provide customer support
  • Mediate disputes and enforce our Terms of Service
  • Power AI-assisted listing generation (item descriptions, categories, pricing suggestions)
  • Detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and unauthorized account activity
  • Send transactional emails (order confirmations, shipping updates, disputes)
  • Send marketing communications — you may opt out at any time via the unsubscribe link in any email
  • Comply with applicable legal obligations and regulatory requirements

3. Third-Party Services

We share limited information with the following third parties to operate our services:

  • Stripe — payment processing. Your payment information is submitted directly to Stripe and governed by Stripe's Privacy Policy.
  • USPS, FedEx, UPS— shipping carriers receive the buyer's name and delivery address solely to fulfill shipments; they do not receive financial or identity verification data.
  • AI providers — listing content (item descriptions and photos) may be processed by AI providers to generate listing copy and categorization suggestions. No personal identity information (name, email, phone, address, payment data, or KYC documents) is shared with AI providers.

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data to advertisers or data brokers. We may disclose information when required by law, court order, or to protect the rights and safety of our users and the platform.

4. Data Retention & Deletion Rights

We retain your data according to the following schedule:

  • Account data — retained while your account is active and for 3 years after account closure for legal compliance, dispute resolution, and fraud prevention
  • Transaction records — retained for 7 years as required by financial regulations
  • KYC / identity documents — retained per applicable legal retention requirements; typically deleted within 5 years of account closure unless required longer by law
  • Marketing communication preferences — retained indefinitely to honor opt-out requests

To request deletion of your personal data, contact us at the privacy email below. We will respond within 30 days. Note that we may be required to retain certain data despite a deletion request (e.g., transaction records for financial compliance).

5. Cookie & Tracking Policy

We use the following types of cookies and tracking technologies:

  • Essential cookies — required for authentication, security, and core platform functionality. These cannot be disabled while using SnapSell.
  • Performance / analytics cookies — collect aggregate, anonymized usage data to help us understand how users interact with the platform and improve it.

We do not use third-party advertising or behavioral targeting cookies. You can manage or disable non-essential cookies in your browser settings; however, disabling essential cookies may prevent you from logging in or using core features.

6. CCPA Disclosure (California Residents)

If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) grants you the following rights:

  • Right to know — you have the right to request disclosure of the categories and specific pieces of personal information we collect about you, and how we use and share it
  • Right to delete — you have the right to request deletion of personal information we have collected, subject to certain exceptions
  • Right to opt out of sale — SnapSell does not sell personal information as defined under the CCPA
  • Right to non-discrimination — we will not discriminate against you for exercising any of your CCPA rights

7. GDPR Disclosure (EU / EEA Users)

If you are located in the European Union or European Economic Area, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) grants you the following rights:

  • Legal bases for processing — we process your data on the grounds of: contract performance (to provide the services you signed up for), legitimate interests (fraud prevention, platform security), and legal obligation (financial record-keeping)
  • Rights — you have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict processing of, and receive a portable copy of your personal data; and to object to processing based on legitimate interests
  • International transfers — data transferred outside the EEA is subject to appropriate safeguards, including Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) as approved by the European Commission
  • Right to complain — you have the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority (data protection authority)

8. Security

We implement industry-standard security measures including TLS 1.3 encryption for data in transit, encrypted storage for sensitive data at rest, access controls and audit logging, and regular security reviews. While we take these precautions, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. We will notify affected users promptly in the event of a data breach that may affect their rights.

9. Children's Privacy

SnapSell is not intended for users under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors. If we discover that we have collected data from a user under 18, we will delete it promptly. If you believe a minor has created an account, please contact us at the privacy email below.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically to reflect changes in our practices or applicable laws. We will notify you of material changes via email at least 30 days before they take effect. The date of the most recent update is shown at the top of this page. Your continued use of SnapSell after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
